The expression, which comes from the dialect , would be called Palatinate Kreischer in High German . In a special context, Krischer is synonymous with Schreier and refers to the fact that the Palatinate supposedly has the peculiarity of using his voice quite loudly.

The term has been widely used for some time in Palatinate dialect literature and poetry as well as in the regional music scene. This is how Hanns Glückstein called a book written in dialect Pälzer Krischer - Ernschtes unn Heiteres from de Palz as early as 1924 . Paul Tremmel wrote the poem Die Gschicht vum Krischer . Various dialect combos sang and sang over the name of the neck, whereby the titles partly retain the f, which is actually suppressed in the dialect.

Carnival Order

To mark its centenary in 1977, the Carnival Association Rheinschanze planned to issue a new order with which a “voice of the Palatinate” should be awarded every year. When a suitable name was sought, the popular dialect expression was found. Its figurative meaning was well received, and the Pälzer Krischer became the most sought- after carnival order in the region.
