Emil Pahlke

Emil Pahlke (* 1828 in Emmerich ; † January 25, 1893 ) was the Prussian mayor .

Life

After Sonnborn (now part of Wuppertal ) was separated from Haan as an independent municipality in 1867 and raised as the mayor's office of Sonnborn, Pahlke became its first mayor in 1868. His term of office in Sonnborn lasted until 1871 and he moved to the mayor's office in Kettwig (now at Essen ), his successor was Gottfried Eschmann (1834–1890). On January 4, 1877, he was then mayor of Rheydt (now in Mönchengladbach ) and received the title of Lord Mayor from 1889 .

The administrative lawyer Reinhard Pahlke (1866–1937) was his son.

Awards and honors

Pahlkestrasse in the Wuppertal district of Elberfeld-West was named after him in 1935 . At the time of the mayor's office in Sonnborn, the street was in the Sonnborn area. Another Pahlkestrasse exists in Mönchengladbach-Rheydt; the city bath located there, built in 1966, is also known as the Pahlke bath .
