Enigma is an American city ( English Town ). It is located in Berrien County in the southern state of Georgia . When United States Census ( Census ) in 2010, Enigma had 1,278 inhabitants.

Enigma is located in the northwest of the County on US Highway 82 about 80 kilometers east of Albany and just under 180 kilometers west of the at the American Atlantic coast lying port city of Brunswick . About 25 kilometers south of Enigma is the County Seat ( German administrative seat of the district ) in Nashville .

As of at the Stadthalle ( english City Hall attached) panel (picture) can be removed, the original was settlement in 1880 founded by John A. Ball. It is said that the residents were initially unable to agree on a name. Then someone commented that finding a suitable place name was “just a riddle ” for them ( English “just an enigma” ). So the name Enigma came and stayed.
On August 21, 1906, Enigma was elevated to town . In its early history, the city some small industries, including one had turpentine - distillery and a sawmill , and stores and a grocery store .
Today there is of course other infrastructure , such as post office , bank , police station , gas station , water tower (picture) and school . The latter was merged with the other schools in the county in the 1980s to form the Berrien high , middle , elementary , and primary schools . The former school grounds in Enigma are now used as Enigma City Park .
The main trade in Enigma was and is agriculture .
