Enrique Ortez Colindres (born October 29, 1931 in Juticalpa, Olancho Department ) is a diplomat from Honduras . He became Foreign Minister after the military coup in Honduras in June 2009 and then Justice Minister under Roberto Micheletti .

Life

Family origin

His mother's father was Nestor Colindres Zuniga, a lawyer in Juticalpa and from 1910 to 1911 together with Pedro A. Medal Castillo and a José Manuel Zelaya deputy of Miguel R. Dávila

His father, Enrique Ortez Pinel, was the director of public relations for the Standard Fruit Company in Olancho. During unrest, the oligarchy fled Olancho and settled in La Ceiba , where his father ran a pharmacy, the Farmacia Ortez . In 1946 Enrique Ortez Pinel wrote a newspaper article entitled El oro maldito about a gold bracelet. Tiburcio Carías Andino gave this bracelet to the wife of an ambassador, which he had received from a woman so that her son would not be killed. As a result of this newspaper article, Enrique Ortez Pinel went into exile with his family via Tela, Belice to Guatemala .

In the elections on October 10, 1954, José Ramón Villeda Morales was elected. Enrique Ortez Pinel was to be Villeda's deputy. The members of parliament from El Paraíso stayed away from the vote, which is why there was no quorum for a law by which Villeda would have been appointed president. Julio Lozano Díaz had Villeda deported from Honduras and Villeda went into exile in Costa Rica . The following 18 months ruled a coalition government in which Enrique Ortez Pinel was Minister for Public Education.

When Oswaldo López Arellano Villeda fell, Ortez was replaced as a representative at OdeCA . Dumas Rodríguez and Roberto Ramírez were looking for a replacement from Juan Miguel Mejía, who was the director of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) from Villeda. Government membership after coup

During the military coup in Honduras in 2009 he was de facto foreign minister of the coup regime of Roberto Micheletti . In his position on a television program, he accused the governments of Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega of planning an invasion of Honduras. The US President Obama , who did not recognize the coup government, he described as a “little negro ” or, depending on the translation, as a “little negro ” who supported the alleged invasion plans.

The US ambassador clearly complained about Ortez's statements. Ortez then wrote a letter of apology to the US government. On June 10, 2009 Enrique Ortez Colindres resigned as Foreign Minister of the coup government and was appointed Minister of Justice.
