Entrails is a Swedish death metal band from Linneryd that was formed in 1990, split up in 1998 and reunited in 2008.

history

The band was formed in 1990 and consisted of guitarists Jimmy Lundqvist and Fredde. A short time later Tobbe and Billy joined them and the first rehearsals began. However, the song material could not achieve the desired quality, so that in 1994 half of the band members left the band. The remaining members continued to work on new songs before the group split up completely in 1998.

In 2008 the band was revived by Lundqvist. The Reborn demo followed with Lundqvist on all instruments and Jocke Svenssonden on vocals. The demo was released in summer 2009. Due to the positive feedback, the band started working on the debut album. This resulted in the demo Human Decay , which was published in winter 2009. The demo also contained a cover of, among other Dismember -Liedes Casket Garden . In early 2010 the band signed a contract with the German label FDA Rekotz . Matte Nilsson joined the band as guitarist and Fredrik Widigs as session drummer, while Svensson took on bass as well as vocals. After everything except the drums had been recorded and produced in Lundqvist's studio in April 2010, the material was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö in Unisound Studio . In June, the debut album was released under the title Tales from the Morgue . After the release, Adde Mitroulis joined the cast as a permanent drummer in the summer of 2010. The first appearance with this new line-up followed in Växjö towards the end of October , before a small tour of Germany followed with four appearances in November. In May 2011, the group started work on the second album. The drums were recorded in a local studio and the rest in Lundqvist's studio. The material was mixed and mastered again by Dan Swanö in Unisound Studio. In the summer of the same year the band took part in the Swedish Muscle Rock Festival and the Czech Obscene Extreme . The second album The Tomb Awaits followed in September. The phonogram was released by FDA Rekotz in Europe , while it was released in North America by Dark Descent Records . Negotiations with various labels began in the winter of 2011/2012 before a contract was signed with Metal Blade Records in March 2012 . During the negotiations, Lundqvist had already started work on the next album. Thirteen songs were completed in April. On July 28th, the band went to Racetrack Studios to record the recordings for the drums. In August the band played at Party.San and a week later at Summer Breeze . In September more recordings were made in Studio Lundqvist before the band in Danish Esbjerg played. A week later followed a performance at the German Hell Inside Festival. In early November the band played two more gigs in Germany together with Morgoth . The band played the last gig of the year in Stockholm . After that, the band finished their recording and sent it to Dan Swanö for mixing and mastering. In May 2013, the album Raging Death was released on Metal Blade Records . After the album was released, guitarist Mathias Nilsson was replaced by Pontus Samuelsson. In January 2014, the band released the single Berzerk . At the end of 2014, the recordings for the new album Obliteration began , which was also mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö and was released in May 2015 on Metal Blade Records.

style

On Tales from the Morgue the band played classic death metal, in the style of groups like Nihilist , Carnage and God Macabre . The band also played classic death metal on The Tomb Awaits, comparable to the works of Carnage, Grave , Dismember and Nihilist. In songs like To Live Is to Rot , an influence from groups like Black Sabbath and Tiamat can be heard. The singing is guttural but understandable and the songs vary in speed. The occasional use of guitar solos is also characteristic. The album is described as a merger of the first three Entombed albums. The band also occasionally reminds of Venom .
