Eric Steelberg

Eric Wesley Steelberg (born April 1, 1977 in Northridge , California ) is an American cinematographer .

life and work

Steelberg began shooting black and white as a teenager . At the age of 16 he made his first short film , which won one national and two international awards. He later attended the "Sky Film School" and made other short films that were also shown at various film festivals.

On his third visit to the Sundance Film Festival , his short film In God We Trust received critical acclaim and public recognition. With a keen sense of composition and light, Steelberg made his way to feature films . His debut The 15th Birthday won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Prize at the 2006 Sundance Festival. After the film won these awards, he first made the black comedy Numb with the actors Matthew Perry and Kevin Pollack .

In 2007, Steelberg was hired by director Jason Reitman for his feature film Juno . The comedy about a 16-year-old girl who accidentally becomes pregnant was a huge hit with audiences and even won an Oscar for Best Screenplay . He completed three films in 2009: (500) Days of Summer , Bandslam and Up in the Air . On the latter, Steelberg worked again with Jason Reitman.

In 2010 Steelberg completed Crazy About You with Drew Barrymore and Justin Long in the lead roles.
