Eric Wohlberg (born January 8, 1965 in Oakville , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian cyclist . He was Canadian time trial champion eight times in a row .

Athletic career

Eric Wohlberg began his career in 1996 with the US cycling team Shaklee . In the same year he became Canadian time trial champion for the first time, a success that he was able to repeat seven times in a row by 2002. He celebrated his first international success in 1997 in the time trial of the Tour de Langkawi ; In 1999 he decided another stage of the Tour de Langkawi for himself. In 2000 he won an overall ranking for the first time at the Tour de Hokkaidō . In 2001 he moved to the Saturn Cycling Team and in 2004 won the Tour of Wellington for Sierra Nevada Cycling . From 2005, Wohlberg drove for the Canadian Continental Team Symmetrics .

Wohlberg started three times at the Olympic Games : 1996 , 2000 and 2004 . He started in time trials and road races, but was only able to achieve a top position in the individual time trial in 2004 with 18th place. He started four times at the Commonwealth Games ; In 1998 he won the individual time trial and was third in the road race. He also won the time trial at the Pan American Games in 1999 .

Eric Wohlberg ended his cycling career in 2008 and has since worked as a consultant and sports director for various teams.

Honors

In October 2018, Eric Wohlberg was inducted into the Canadian Cycling Hall of Fame .
