Erich Walter Lotz

Erich Walter Lotz (born February 11, 1895 in Aschersleben , † December 20, 1966 in Braunschweig ) was a German teacher and SPD local politician. From 1946 to 1960 he was senior city director of Braunschweig.

Life

Lotz completed two state exams and then worked in the public school service from 1919 to 1930. He joined the SPD in 1919 and became a city councilor and city councilor in Aschersleben. He became director of the Landerziehungsheim in Nordhausen . He was arrested during the Nazi era and placed temporarily under police supervision. Until the end of the Second World War , he worked in the private sector as managing director in the catering sector in Braunlage and Gdansk . In 1945 he fled to Schleswig-Holstein , where he was first district administrator in Eutin and shortly thereafter senior district director .

On September 12, 1946, Lotz took over the office of senior city director of Braunschweig, which he held until February 29, 1960. There he played a decisive role in the reconstruction of the heavily destroyed city. He was also a presidential member of the German Association of Cities in Cologne . He was Vice President of the Federation of German Transport Associations in Frankfurt am Main . He was also President of the Federal Association for Self-Protection and Vice President of the Braunschweig University of Applied Sciences and the Society for Aviation and Space Research.

He was the father-in-law of the Braunschweig conductor Heinz Zeebe . Lotz died at the age of 71 in Braunschweig, where he was given an honorary grave .
