Erik Oese (born September 9, 1987 in Radebeul ) is an active German vaulting artist . In 2017, Oese became European Vaulting Champion in the men's individual ranking . Further career highlights for him were his third place at the World Equestrian Games, his runner-up title and winning the German championship in men's singles.

Life

He studied mathematics and physics at grammar schools at the TU Dresden , which he has been teaching at the Luisenstift grammar school in Radebeul since the 2014/2015 school year . His grandfather Erich Oese was also closely associated with equestrian sports. He was the author (including a handbook on equestrian sports in two volumes) as well as Vice-President (1953), President (1956) of the German Equestrian Association of the GDR (DPV) and head of the Scientific Center of the DPV.

Career

Through his older sister, Erik Oese came into contact with vaulting at an early age and has been closely associated with this sport ever since. He is trained and supported by the couple Christin and Andreas Bäßler, who, like Oese, are also part of the vaulting department of the RFV Moritzburg e. V. belong.

At the latest with his two fourth places in 2010 at the Prize of the Best in Kurtscheid and the CVI ** in Krumke, as well as his second place at the Saxon championships, Oese was also able to draw national attention. In the same year, he was also able to gain his first experience at an international championship, where he competed at short notice together with Kristina Boe in the pas de deux and finished fifth despite little preparation time. However, Oese had his most successful year on a national level in 2011. In this year he not only won the Saxon championship, but also became German champion for the first time .

In 2012 he narrowly missed defending his title at the German Championships. By winning the CVI *** in Krumke, he was able to convince the German national coach Ulla Ramge and the selection committee, whereby he was nominated for the contest for the world championships in vaulting in Le Mans (August 13-19, 2012). As a debutant at the World Championships, he only had to admit defeat to local hero Nicolas Andréani and was the first Saxon vaulting artist to take silver.

After winning the Prize of the Best and third place at the CVI *** in Krumke, Erik Oese on Calvador 5, with the help of his lunge guide Andreas Bäßler, won the individual as well as the 2013 CVIO *** vaulting tournament in Aachen together with Corinna Knauf and the Team RSV Neuss-Grimlinghausen in the Nations Cup. At the European Championships in Ebreichsdorf , Oese on Calvador 5 and Bäßler (lunge guide) built on the previous good performances of the 2013 competition year, which enabled them to fight for the vice European championship in men's singles. Oese was only beaten by the French Jacques Ferrari during this competition . The bronze medal went to the Austrian local hero Stefan Csandl . After the Vice European Championship, Erik Oese on Calvador, lungeed by his mentor Andreas Bäßler, was able to secure his second German championship from September 12th to 15th in Verden with a total of 8.442 points. Jannis Drewell (7.8) and Jannik Heiland (Hanover regional association, 7.690) followed with a long gap in places two and three .

The year 2014 started with the CHI Al Shaqab in Doha (Qatar). That invitation tournament started relatively cautiously for Oese, who had to compete on a strange horse ( Don de la Mar ) (seventh place in the men's duty). However, he increased his performance in the further course of the tournament, whereby he still won the second place. During the CVI in Stadl Paura (June 2014) Oese again showed strong performances, which is why he was able to secure the overall victory in the end. At the later CVI in Krumke, Oese came second (8111 points). In mid-July, Oese took part in the CHIO Aachen again. As in the previous year, he secured the men's individual victory here. At the Nations Cup, Team Germany 1 surprisingly had to admit defeat to Team Germany 2, which meant that Erik Oese only narrowly missed the previous year's double. The same applied to the German Championships in Elmshorn , where Oese was unable to repeat last year's victory. Viktor Brüsewitz managed, as at the CHI in Doha, to push the Saxon to second place. The season ended for Oese with the World Equestrian Games in Caen , which only take place every four years and thus represented the highlight of the year. After a good fifth place in the compulsory, the subsequent third place in the freestyle and the victory in his parade discipline, the technique program, a hard and close three-way battle developed between the exceptional French athletes Nicolas Andréani , Jacques Ferrari and the German vaulting artist Erik Oese. Despite strong performances on the part of Oese, he ultimately had to admit defeat to the two French. Oese's result only separated Andréani's second place by 0.015 points.

Thanks to these successes, Erik Oese is the most internationally successful Saxon vaulting athlete of all time. The also very successful vaulting athlete Daniel Kaiser (born in Leipzig ) was able to win the first bronze medal for the State Equestrian Association of Saxony at the World Championships in Brno in 2008 .
