Erika Navas
Erika Navas (born November 17, 1959 in Mexico City ) is an Austrian costume designer .
Life
Erika Navas, who was born in Mexico City, moved to Vienna in 1965 . There she attended from 1974 to 1980 the high school for fashion and clothing technology Herbststrasse and then studied from 1980 to 1982 stage costume and fashion at the University of Applied Arts Vienna . During her studies she worked as a costume assistant for various film productions. In 1985 she started her own business as a freelance costume designer.
Erika Navas has worked as a costume designer for numerous cinema and television productions and has worked several times with the directors Michael Haneke , Paulus Manker , Thomas Roth , Michael Schottenberg and Harald SICHERITZ . At the theater she was responsible for the costume design of dozen productions at the Vienna Volkstheater and the Reichenau Festival , and she also worked as a costume designer at the Burgtheater and the Berlin Schlosspark Theater, among others . Navas is particularly an expert in historical costumes. In 1995 she opened her own costume rental. Since 2009 she has also been working as a consultant for style and image issues.
Navas is a member of the Academy of Austrian Films .
