In the winter of 1958, the Montafon native won the runs from St. Moritz and the Gornergrat derby in Zermatt and the Gamperney derby in Grabs . In Arosa , however, she had a hard fall and broke both legs. In the 1958/59 season Netzer was the outstanding runner and was able to win a total of nine races: At the Arlberg-Kandahar races in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , despite a plaster cast on her hand, she won the relatively high starting number 27 on February 6th Descent with a lead of 0.5 seconds over the Swiss Madeleine Berthod , who has already been celebrated as the winner . She achieved further downhill successes in Cortina d'Ampezzo and Chamonix , where she also won the combination. She was successful in giant slalom in Innsbruck and Hochsölden, among others, and at the Austrian championships in Kitzbühel she won three titles in downhill, slalom and combined. In the winter of 1959/60 Netzer could not continue their winning streak. Two second places in the giant slalom in Kitzbühel and Hochsölden were her best results of the season. She came third in the Arlberg-Kandahar run in Sestriere . The 1960 Olympic Games in Squaw Valley were also disappointing . In the downhill she only finished eighth, in the giant slalom she was out.

In the 1960/61 season Netzer again celebrated several victories: She won downhill and combined in the silver jug races in Bad Gastein (3rd to 5th February), the combined in the world championship test in Chamonix (23/24 February), slalom and combined the Gornergrat derby in Zermatt (March 17-19) and the giant slalom in Crans-Montana (March 22, 1961) and Tschagguns . According to a world rankings published on March 16, she led the giant slalom ranking. Next winter, she won the giant slalom at the Zettersfeld in Lienz (17 December 1961) and again the exit of Bad Gastein (17 January 1962) The hugely successful for Austria World Cup 1962 in Chamonix had Netzer significant share of the total of seven medals Austrian ski ladies. In the giant slalom she won the silver medal just behind Marianne Jahn and in the slalom she took the bronze medal behind Jahn and Goitschel . Only in the downhill did she only come in tenth place, whereby she awarded a possible world title in the combination, but still won the bronze medal.

In the winter of 1963 Netzer decided the combination of the first gold key race (January 14th to 17th) with second places in downhill and slalom , further podium places (2nd place in slalom and combined) were her in Oberstaufen on 4th / 5th . January succeeded. However, she contracted severe pleurisy in the gold key race, which is why she had to end the season early. In December 1963, she announced that she was leaving the Olympic squad rather unexpectedly, citing that she did not feel up to the health problems and that there were family considerations.

Netzer succumbed to liver disease at the age of 40. Since 1996 the St. Gallenkirch winter sports club has organized the "Erika Netzer Memorial Run" every year.
