Ernesto Maguengue

Ernesto Maguengue (born August 2, 1964 in Chidenguele , diocese Xai-Xai , Mozambique ) is auxiliary bishop in Nampula .

Life

The Archbishop of Maputo , Alexandre José Maria Cardinal dos Santos OFM , ordained him a priest on May 14, 1989 . He then worked as a parish administrator , head of the pastoral secretariat of the archdiocese and lecturer at Philosophat (1982–92). Subsequently he studied from 1992 to 1998 at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , where he became a doctor of theology doctorate was. In 1999 he was appointed Deputy Rector of the Interdiocesan Theologate Pius X , which he has headed as Rector since 2000. He also teaches at the Philosophy Department of the Mãe da Africa Institute .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Pemba on June 24, 2004 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop Emeritus of Maputo, Alexandre José Maria Cardinal dos Santos OFM, on October 24th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Francisco Chimoio OFMCap , Archbishop of Maputo, and Júlio Duarte Langa , Bishop Emeritus of Xai-Xai . The inauguration in the diocese of Pemba took place on November 14th of the same year.

He resigned as Bishop of Pemba on October 27, 2012. Pope Francis appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Nampula on August 6, 2014 . With the resignation of Archbishop Tomé Makhwelihas , he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Nampula for the period of the Sedis vacancy .
