Ernsbach is a district of Erbach in the Odenwaldkreis in southern Hesse , which together with the neighboring town of Erbuch forms the Erbach district of Ernsbach-Erbuch .

Geographical location

The place is east of Erbach in the extension of the Dreiseental am Ernsbach , the actual origin of the Erdbach , a little off the federal highway 47 .

history

The first documentary mention was made on October 27, 1095 in the Lorsch Codex . On this date Abbot Anshelm von Lorsch renewed the rights of his Michlinstat (Steinbach) monastery with possessions, including Erichesbüch . The wording of the name changed several times, in 1653 it was called Ernstbach , from 1720 Ernsbach .

The old school house was inaugurated in 1954 but was not used for long. The extinguishing water pond was created in 1964 in the manner of a swimming pool. On January 1, 1968, the communities of Ernsbach and Erbuch merged to form the community of Ernsbach-Erbuch . On the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse , this new formation voluntarily joined the city of Erbach on December 31, 1971. Ernsbach, together with the neighboring town of Erbuch, forms a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor . They also have the volunteer fire brigade in common.

Culture

There are two clubs in Ernsbach: The volunteer fire brigade "Ernsbach-Erbuch" founded in 1964 and the Kerbeverein founded in 2006. Annually recurring festive events are the fire brigade festival, the street festival "Am Stutz" and the curb .

economy

A large dairy farmer, a garden design company and a company specializing in motorcycle spare parts are located in Ernsbach. The first rotary milking parlor in the Odenwald was put into operation in Ernsbach .

traffic

From the federal road 47 , the district road K 44 leads east down to Ernsbach and ends here.

Personalities

The farmer Heinrich List (1882–1942) hid a Michelstädter Jew named Ferdinand Strauss out of friendship during the National Socialist dictatorship. He was denounced, arrested and killed in 1942 in the Dachau concentration camp . For his upright work, he and his wife Marie List were honored as Righteous Among the Nations .
