Ernst August Schneider

Ernst August Schneider (born October 2, 1902 in Körchow ; † January 7, 1976 in Vienna ) was a German music journalist , dramaturge , director and theater director .

Career

Schneider studied German, theater studies and musicology at the Hamburg University . From 1923 to 1938 he worked as a music journalist in the Rhineland . In 1938 he became chief dramaturge and director in Essen , and in 1940 in Cologne . In 1941 he moved to the Vienna State Opera as dramaturge and head of the artistic office and from 1941 to 1943 also served as its provisional director.
