Egon Seefehlner

Egon Hugo Seefehlner (born June 3, 1912 in Vienna ; † September 25, 1997 there ) was an Austrian lawyer , editor and general manager .

Egon Hugo Seefehlner was the son of Egon Ewald Seefehlner and Charlotte (nee Kerpely de Krassó). He first studied at the Consular Academy in Vienna and then went on to study law . In 1937 he received his doctorate in law.

From 1938 to 1943 he worked in the economic policy department of AEG in Berlin . He then returned to Vienna and worked from 1945 to 1948 as editor-in-chief of the cultural magazine Der Turm , before he was general secretary of the Wiener Konzerthaus from 1946 to 1961 and also deputy director of the Vienna State Opera from 1954 to 1961 . As General Secretary of the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft, Seefehlner founded the Musical Youth of Austria in 1949 . From 1945 to 1963, Seefehlner also served as a cultural advisor in the federal party leadership of the ÖVP and at the same time as general secretary of the Austrian Cultural Association, which he co-founded .

In 1961 Seefehlner returned to Berlin, where he initially acted as deputy and from 1972 to 1976 as general manager of the Deutsche Oper . He was then director of the Vienna State Opera from 1976 to 1982 and from 1984 to 1986 .

His honorary grave is located in the Neustift cemetery (group N, row 1, number 44).
