Ernst J. ("Jonny") Kiphard (born December 1, 1923 in Eisenach , Thuringia ; † July 27, 2010 in Rosbach in front of the height ) was a German sports educator . He is considered the founder and nestor of German psychomotor skills .

Life

Ernst Kiphard grew up in Eisenach, where he attended elementary school and from 1932–1940 the Real Reform Gymnasium “Ernst Abbe School”, where he graduated from high school.

During the Second World War , Kiphard was a marine in a submarine and a combat swimmer from 1940 . During the British prisoner of war 1945-1946 he founded a variety theater .

After the Second World War he fulfilled a childhood dream: from 1947 to 1950 he appeared as a catcher for the artist group “Swiss Stars” and as a clown and magician in the Holzmüller and Althoff circus .

1951–1953 he worked as an employee at British European Airways in Hamburg and attended the special education school (HPS) in Zurich .

1953–1957 he studied sport, psychology and education at the German Sport University Cologne . The encounter with handicapped children during an internship motivated him to give up his plan to found an art school and to look after weak and clumsy children.

After studying sports, he worked for around 25 years as a qualified sports teacher, movement pedagogue and therapist in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Clinic for Adolescent Psychiatry in Gütersloh and at the Westphalian Institute for Adolescent Psychiatry and Curative Education in Hamm . With Helmut Hünnekens, Friedhelm Schilling and others, he made psychomotor skills known and the Psychomotor Action Group, the training courses for motologists and motor therapists as well as many psychomotor associations throughout Germany were created.

In 1976 he received his doctorate , in 1980 he was appointed professor for sports education at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and retired in 1989 .

After his retirement he gave lectures at international congresses, conducted courses for multipliers and ensured the dissemination of the psychomotor idea in many engagements and publications.

Ernst Jonny Kiphard is also called the "father of psychomotor skills" in Germany because he has merged different pedagogical and therapeutic approaches into one concept of "psychomotor skills" since the 1950s. The approaches and experiences of leading developmental diagnosticians and therapists such as the child psychologist Jean Ayres , the therapist Marianne Frostig , the child psychiatrist Helmut Hünnekens, the motologist Friedhelm Schilling and the pediatrician Inge Flehmig - with whom he was in lively professional exchange - flowed into his concept. His idea is characterized by a strong practical relevance.

The core of his work was the reflexive distance to himself borne by humor . It was in this space that the psychomotor work unfolded. Current trends in the psychomotor discussion take up these basic ideas of Kiphard and develop them further.

He developed a "psychomotor exercise treatment" at the Clinic for Adolescent Psychiatry in Gütersloh, was the head of the DFG research assignment "The syndrome of motor deficits in early childhood brain-damaged", developed and constructed the trampoline body coordination test (TKT) and the body coordination test for children (KTK) and published the Sensorimotor Development Grid as a diagnostic screening method for 0 to 4 year old children.

Kiphard's numerous publications on movement therapy and psychomotor skills earned him recognition and invitations to teaching positions, workshops , discussions, guest lectures and visiting professorships in Japan , Korea and the USA .
