Ernst Kreowski

Ernst Franz Kreowski (born June 12, 1859 in Rossitten , Prussian Holland district ; died January 13, 1920 in Britz ) was a German journalist and working-class writer. His pseudonym was Ernst Werder.

Life

Ernst Kreowski was the son of the horticultural engineer and gardening owner Ernst Kreowski and Henriette geb. Kuhn . In 1874 he was hired at the post and telegraph office, but quit the service after a short time. In 1879 he was a teacher in East Prussia. From 1886 to 1897 he lived in Munich , first as a music teacher, then as a journalist . In 1893 he joined the SPD . From 1898 to 1902 he lived and worked in Stuttgart . Then in Berlin with an interruption from 1904 to 1905, when he headed the features section of the SPD newspaper “Die Volksstimme”, Chemnitz . His last address was in Berlin-Friedenau . He died in Britz district hospital in 1920 .

Kreowski worked for the Süddeutsche Postillon from 1893 to 1902 and the Munich Post from 1894 to 1896. Editor of the magazine Vom Fels zum Meer and the magazine Die Gartenlaube from 1898 to 1901. He contributed to the social democratic satirical magazine Der Wahre Jacob . From 1902 he made contributions for the forward . He wrote numerous reviews a. a. for Stuttgart's Die Neue Zeit . His volumes of poetry "Schlagende Wetter", "Von goldener Spindel", "Rotfeuer" and "Auf der Barrikade" appeared only in small editions. His work "Richard Wagner in Caricature", written with Eduard Fuchs, was successful. In 1914 Konrad Beißwanger published some of his poems in the anthology “Voices of Freedom. The flowering of the most outstanding creations of our workers and folk poets. "(4th ed.)

Ernst Kreowski was married to Elfriede Jaehnigen on October 12, 1904.
