Ernst Parchmann

Ernst Parchmann (born March 13, 1930 in Lübz , † September 24, 1988 in Schwerin ) was a German journalist and party functionary ( SED ). He was editor-in-chief of the Schweriner Volkszeitung and secretary of the SED district leadership in Schwerin .

Life

Parchmann, the son of a carpenter and a maid, attended the elementary school in Lübz from 1936 to 1944 and the Güstrow teacher training college from 1944 to March 1945 . From March to April 1945 he was a member of the Volkssturm .

After the Second World War he worked as a farm worker until May 1948. In April 1948 he became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). From June 1948 to May 1949 he studied at the Institute for Teacher Education (IfL) in Neukloster and then worked as a teacher in Eggesin . From February 1950 he served in the border police . He was initially a member of the VP border readiness in Bad Doberan and from January to November 1951 head of political culture of the VP border readiness in Wittenburg with the rank of chief sergeant . From December 1951 to August 1954 he worked as the head of the primary school in Granzin and from 1954 to February 1955 as an assistant at the Pedagogical Institute in Güstrow. He completed a distance learning history at the German Central Pedagogical Institute from 1954 to 1957 as a specialist history teacher. From March 1955 to January 1956 he was a student and then until April 1956 an assistant at the SED district party school in Güstrow. In March 1956 he found a job as an editor at the Schweriner Volkszeitung in Schwerin. From April 1961 to August 1964 he was studying at the party college of the CPSU in Moscow with a degree in social science . Another distance learning course, this time at the college for journalism of the Association of Journalists of the GDR in Leipzig , he completed in 1964 as a journalist. From September 1964 a member of the editorial board of the Schweriner Volkszeitung, he was deputy editor-in-chief from 1965 to 1967 and finally acted as editor-in-chief of the SED district organ from June 1967 to March 1971 (successor to Kurt Neheimer ). From 1967 to 1971 he was chairman of the Schwerin district association of the Association of Journalists of the GDR (VDJ) and was a member of the association's central board .

From March 1971 to February 1973 he held the position of secretary for science, popular education and culture in the SED district leadership in Schwerin (successor to the late Gerhard Ramming ). Parchmann was a member of the Schwerin District Parliament from November 1971 to June 1981 . From March 1973 to January 1974 he was editor and head of the cultural department and was a member of the editorial board of the central organ of the SED “ New Germany ” in East Berlin (successor to Klaus Höpcke ). At his own request, he was again Secretary for Science, National Education and Culture of the SED-BL Schwerin in February 1974 and held this position until February 1979. From April 1979 until his death in September 1988 he was director of the Schwerin station of Radio DDR .
