Ernst Achaz von Wedel (born July 28, 1825 in Blankensee , Pyritz district , † March 31, 1896 there) was a Pomeranian farmer and member of the Prussian manor house .

family

Ernst von Wedel came from the von Wedel family . He was a son of the manor owner Achaz von Wedel (1796-1852) and his wife Emma, ​​née von Manteuffel (1803-1852). Lieutenant General Hermann von Wedel (1848–1913) was his half-brother. Wedel was married to his cousin Julie Henriette (1836-1908), a daughter of the district deputy and manor owner Heinrich August von Wedel-Burghagen zu Pumptow in the Pyritz district and Burghagen in the Westprignitz district, and Pauline, née von Lettow-Vorbeck . He had four children; a grandson was the farmer and Stahlhelmführer Bernd von Wedel .

Life

After his military service in the 2nd Guard Uhlan Regiment of the Prussian Army , which he quit as a lieutenant in 1849, he managed the Blankensee manor including Charlottenhof and Kuckmühle (approx. 1150 hectares) for almost half a century . He expanded the estate and village extensively; the farm yard he renewed, including the barns built in 1855 and 1861, has been preserved. In the war against France in 1870/71, Wedel commanded the replacement squadron of the 1st Guard Dragoons Regiment as a major . In 1884 he became a legal knight of the Order of St. John . He was a landscape councilor and a member of the district council. On April 14, 1894, he was appointed to the Prussian mansion for life for the presentation of "the old and fortified property in the Duchy of Stettin " .
