Once upon a time ... space ( French Il était une fois ... l'Espace ) is a French animated series that was created in 1982 and is one of a series of series entitled Once Upon a Time .

content

Unlike the other series, purely fictional content is dealt with, which only shows superficial knowledge about space . It is about the possible further development of humanity in the future. In contrast to the other series, there are several cross-episode arcs and the characters not only look similar, but actually appear multiple times. Typical science fiction elements such as robots, supernatural forces, generation ships, interstellar conflicts and space battles are discussed.

In the future more than 1000 years away, the inhabitants of the earth have conquered space. The planet Omega, a human colony, is the seat of the interstellar confederation, an institution that is supposed to serve the peaceful coexistence of the space-traveling races of the galaxy. But the vile General Dicknase, ruler of the Cassiopeia system, has plans of his own. He wants to subjugate the confederation and make himself ruler of the galaxy. To this end, he was initially hiding his fleet from the Omega Space Police, with the help of an unknown force, and weakening the confederation through a series of acts of sabotage. With Cassiopeia's exit, Dicknose's demeanor becomes increasingly aggressive, and his initial provocations result in open hostility.

Meanwhile, during their visits to different planets, the protagonists of the series, the young space pilot Pierrot, the telepath Psi and the robot Metro find out who is Dicknase's overpowering ally: a powerful computer, once created by a scientist, has decided to protect humanity to subjugate the peoples of the galaxy so that war and violence will never again emanate from them. It turns out that all the incidents in the course of the series were only used by the Big Computer to find out everything about people and to test its own skills. With the help of the weapons of Cassiopeia, all peoples, starting with Cassiopeia itself, are now to be subjugated, if necessary with the use of the planetary annihilators. Before the decisive final battle between the confederation of states and the Big Computer takes place, a previously unknown transcendent power intervenes in the conflict and destroys the robot fleet.
