Eurochoir is a project that was founded in 1982 by the Working Group of European Choir Associations (AGEC) and has been continued by the European Choral Association æ Europa Cantat since 2011. The aim is to spread choral music and to promote cultural youth exchanges within the European Union .
Each year, up to sixty singers aged up to 30 years from the member associations of AGEC are brought together to form a choir that rehearses and performs in one of the member countries. Experienced conductors and choir teachers take over the management. The main theme of the performances is the respective musical culture of the host country, according to which the works are selected and orchestrated.
In addition to the rehearsals and performances, the members also get to know other cultural features of the host country. The entire stay takes about a week.
