The 2019/20 season was the 16th season of the European Women's Hockey League , a supranational women's ice hockey league . Between September 2018 and March 2019 nine teams from Austria , Italy , Hungary , Slovenia , Poland and Kazakhstan took part. The Kazakh team played most of its home games in the venues of the other clubs involved. The EWHL champion was the KMH Budapest for the first time , who defeated MAC Budapest 2-1 in the final.

mode

The basic round is a simple round-trip from September 2018 to February 2019. The best 4 teams are qualified for the final tournament. The first-placed team from the regular season plays against the fourth-placed team, the second against the third-placed team. The finalists play for the title EWHL champion . The bronze medal is played between the two losers.

For a victory a team with a win by getting three points, sudden victory overtime mentioned extension or after the shootout two points. The losing team receives no points after regular time, but one point if they lose after extra time or penalty shootout.

Participating teams

In addition to the finalists from the previous year - KMH Budapest and EHV Sabers Vienna - DEC Salzburg, Aisulu Almaty and KEHV Lakers were again selected by the Carinthian regional association. The Neuberg Highlanders withdrew for personnel reasons from the EWHL, while the Hvidovre IK reported again for the league. In addition, the Polish national team was integrated as a new team, participating as Silesia Brackens . The U25 selection from Budapest ( MAC / FTC U25 Select) was replaced by a pure club team from MAC Budapest .
