Eva Dahlbeck
Eva Elisabet Dahlbeck (born March 8, 1920 in Saltsjö-Duvnäs, Nacka municipality , † February 8, 2008 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish actress and writer .
Life
Eva Dahlbeck received her acting training at the Royal Dramatic Theater Stockholm , where she also appeared from 1944 on. Film director Gustaf Molander entrusted her with major roles in his films as early as the 1940s. She gained international fame in the 1950s through a series of comedies by Ingmar Bergman such as Sehnsucht der Frauen and The Smile of a Summer Night at the side of Gunnar Björnstrand . For her role in Bergman's Near Life , she received the Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1958 , which she shared with her colleagues from this film, Bibi Andersson , Barbro Hiort af Ornäs and Ingrid Thulin .
In 1964 she ended her theater career and concentrated on her work as an author of novels, poems and scripts. As the main reason for giving up the acting profession, she later stated the uniformity of the roles offered to her. She made her last film appearance in the Danish- Swedish co-production Tintomara in 1970. She passed away in 2008 after a long illness.
Eva Dahlbeck had been married to Air Force officer Sven Lampell since 1944, who died in 2007. The marriage had two children.
