Eternal table of the Asian football championship
The all-time table of the Asian Football Championship is a ranking list of all the Asian Football Championship games since it was first played in 1956 . The calculation is based on the 3-point rule (three points per win, one point per tie). Games that are decided on penalties count as a draw.
The eternal table includes 36 countries, one of which no longer belongs to the AFC and two more have been dissolved. The remaining 33 teams are divided among the regional associations as follows: 9 come from the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), 4 from the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), 6 from the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF), 2 from the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) and 12 from the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF). So 13 of the total of 46 current full members of the AFC have not yet qualified for the competition.
First in the all-time table is Iran , which, along with South Korea, is also a record participant. The record winner, however, is Japan , which won a total of four titles.
