Færøernes command
The Færøernes Command (ISCOMFAROES) comprised the Danish military units responsible for the autonomous Faroe Islands . It was established in its original form in 1961. The Faroe Islands themselves do not have their own army and the citizens are not subject to Danish military service . The last commanding officer was Per Starklint. On October 31, 2012, the command was dissolved together with Grønlands Kommando in favor of the newly formed Arktisk Kommando (Arctic Command) based in Nuuk ( Greenland ). Since then, the Forbindelseselement Færøerne (FEF) (Liaison Office Faroe Islands) has been located in Tórshavn as a military service .

The Island Command Faroes had four fisheries protection boats Thetis-class , Lynx helicopters, Challenger fishery protection aircraft and C-130J Hercules - transport aircraft .
tasks
The command monitored the twelve-mile zone of the Faroe Islands and the 200-mile fisheries protection zone and had facilities for sea rescue . It could be requested from the Faroe Islands to support their own police . In addition, the Mjørkadalur base on the main island of Streymoy was maintained, which served as the command center of a radar system on the Sornfelli .
