The 1961/62 season was the 5th season of the European Cup of National Champions held by FIBA Europe , which is now known as the Euroleague .
The title was won for the first time by BK Dinamo Tiflis from the Soviet Union .
mode
The 14 champions of the respective national league, as well as the defending champion, took part in the final round. First a qualification was played. The winners of the pairings were determined in the first and second leg. The decisive factor was the overall basket ratio in both games. The winners of the pairings in the second round, in the quarter-finals and in the semi-finals were also determined in the first and second leg. The final was played in one game in Geneva.
