Fair Warning is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Van Halen , which was released on record on April 29, 1981 on the Warner Bros. label . The album went double platinum in the US. It is the lowest-selling album of the era with David Lee Roth , but has received critical acclaim.

history

During the recording of Fair Warning , again in the Sunset Studio, there were tensions within the band. David Lee Roth separated a little, and Eddie Van Halen had already spoken to the other bandmates about leaving the band. However, his brother convinced him to stay. The album is considered the "darkest" of Van Halen's previous albums. It didn't contain any radio hits either, which is why the label began to worry.

Success and criticism

Despite the problems, the album peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200 . Stephen Thomas Erlewine called it a "dark strange beast" on the Allmusic.com website . But it shows the concentrated power of Van Halen better than any other album, which is why it is worth an occasional visit. The album was rated 4 out of 5 stars.
