Wolfgang William Van Halen (born March 16, 1991 in Santa Monica , California) is an American musician of Dutch descent. As a bass player he is a member of the band Van Halen and played with Tremonti .

Career

Wolfgang Van Halen is the son of Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen and actress Valerie Bertinelli and the nephew of Van Halen drummer Alex Van Halen . His first name is a homage to the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart . Wolfgang Van Halen did not know for a long time that his father was a famous musician. At the age of ten he started making music and initially played drums . He later switched to guitar and then bass.

In 2006, Wolfgang Van Halen replaced Michael Anthony as bassist for Van Halen. After several tours he recorded the album A Different Kind of Truth with the band , which was released in 2012. He can also be heard on the live album Tokyo Dome Live in Concert , released three years later . Also in 2012, Wolfgang Van Halen joined the band Tremonti des Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti . First, he replaced Brian Marshall as a live musician before Wolfgang Van Halen became a permanent member of the band in 2013. Van Halen released two studio albums with Tremonti. When Tremonti released their fourth studio album in March 2018, Van Halen was no longer a member of the band.

Wolfgang Van Halen mentions Les Claypool from the band Primus , Justin Chancellor from the band Tool , Christopher Wolstenholme from the band Muse , John Entwistle from the band The Who and Jack Bruce from the band Cream as main influences .
