Fatih Atik (born June 25, 1984 in Gleizé ) is a French - Turkish soccer player who plays for Giresunspor . He has French and Turkish citizenship and can therefore be used in both countries under a local license.

Career

Atik was born to parents of Turkish origin in Gleizé, France, and began playing club football in 1991 in the youth department of HSC Montpellier . In 2003 the club took him on to the professional squad. After he had played for this club until the summer of 2007, he completed a trial training with the Turkish first division club Sivasspor and should then be signed by this club. However, after Sivasspor Montpellier had not paid the required transfer fee, Atik returned to his old club. Atik expressed disappointment with this failed move and declared that he no longer wanted to play football in Turkey.

In 2007 Atik moved to the French third division club FC Tours and played for them for the following three years. In his first season he succeeded with his club the runner-up in the league and thus promotion to Ligue 2 , the second highest French division. For the 2010/11 season he moved to US Boulogne within the 2nd division . At this club he stayed only one season and moved to the new season within the league to EA Guingamp . At Guingamp he quickly established himself as a top performer. In his second season, the 2011/12 season , he finished the league with the team in 3rd place in the table and thus made it to Ligue 1 , the top French division. Also in this league Atik remained a regular player and top performer. In the 2013/14 season, he and his team also won the French Cup .

In the summer of 2014 Atik moved to the traditional Turkish club Trabzonspor . After two years at Trabzonspor he moved within the Süper Lig to Kardemir Karabükspor and after another year within Turkey to the second division Giresunspor .
