The Federbach flood retention basin in a reservoir in Baden-Württemberg ( Germany ), with approx. 2.5 hectares of permanent storage area.

description

The lake lies below Horn , a suburb of Göggingen , Ostalbkreis . This retention basin - like ten other flood retention basins (HRB) along the Lein - was created by the Kocher-Lein water association. With the construction of these flood retention basins, the risk of flooding in the Leintal should be eliminated and reduced in the central Kocher valley . The trigger for the construction of the facilities was, among other things, a severe flood in March 1956.

It is named after the Federbach , which rises near Holzhausen on the Frickenhofer Höhe and flows into the Lein just below the reservoir.

In the summer of 2009 the reservoir was renovated. For this purpose, the reservoir was completely emptied and then around 8,000 cubic meters of earth material was removed.

On the eastern side of the lake, part of the shore area is looked after by the Naturschutzbund Deutschland, local group Aalen.

The communal connection road Horn – Göggingen leads over the top of the dam. Located to the west above the lake is the TGV Horn hut, which is managed on weekends. At the HRB Federbach there used to be a landfill.

Fish stock

The lake is looked after by the fishing and conservation association Leintal, Täferrot. Occurring fish species are: rainbow trout, pike, pikeperch, carp, roach, perch, gable, moderlieschen.
