Fehmi Sağınoğlu (born January 1, 1937 - September 19, 2016 ) was a Turkish football player and coach. Due to his many years of work for Beşiktaş Istanbul , he is associated with this association.

Player career

society

Sağınoğlu began playing football in the central Anatolian city of Eskişehir . Here he played for the clubs that existed before Eskişehirspor was founded.

In the summer of 1958 he moved to the Istanbul club Kasımpaşa SK . At the time of his move to Kasımpaşa there was no national professional league in Turkey. Instead, regional leagues existed in metropolitan areas such as Istanbul, Ankara , Izmir and Eskişehir, of which the İstanbul Profesyonel Ligi (German: Istanbul Professional League ) was considered the most renowned. Sağınoğlu previously played in the Eskişehir Futbol Ligi (German: Eskişehir Football League ). Sağınoğlu made his debut for Kasımpaşa during the game in the Istanbul professional league on August 28, 1958 against Adalet SK . In this game he played the full length of the game. In the further course of the season he was used in 15 other games. His team remained in this season without any ambitions and at the end of the season occupied the penultimate place in the table, 9th place in the table.

In the spring of 1959, the Millî Lig (today's Süper Lig), Turkey's first nationwide national league, was founded. This league replaced the regional leagues in the larger metropolitan areas, such as B. the Istanbul professional league, as the highest and only Turkish league. The Istanbul professional league became the first eight teams. So Kasımpaşa was together with the last place in the league, Beyoğluspor , not included in this new league. Sağınoğlu continued to play at Kasımpaşa in the Istanbul professional league, which now assumed the character of the second highest Turkish league. For the second season of the Millî Lig, the 1959/60 season , the league was expanded by four more teams to a total of 20 teams. With this expansion, Kasımpaşa was included in the Millî Lig . In this league Sağınoğlu played two seasons long consistently for Kasımpaşa and reached with this team place in the table in the middle table segment. In the season 1961/62 Sağınoğlu fell almost completely and only completed two missions for Kasımpaşa in the last match days.

In the summer of 1962, Sağınoğlu moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul . Since he was doing his military service at this time, he was not available for the competitive games of his team for the coming season. From 1963 he was used by head coach Ernst Melchior in twelve games over the full length of the game. In the next season 1963/64 the Austrian Ernst Melchior took over the coaching office and relied on Sağınoğlu from the start. The season missed his team with one point behind Fenerbahçe Istanbul the Turkish championship and became runner-up. The following season was again behind Fenerbahçe runner-up. The 1965/66 season ended Sağınoğlu with his club as first in the table and thus reached his first Turkish championship . The following season he successfully defended his title and also won the Turkish Supercup . After these two championship titles as a result, Sağınoğlu and his club remained without a title for a long time and lost out to their city rivals Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray . Sağınoğlu was set until the summer of 1969 and awarded this in the 1969/70 season. In the summer of 1970 he finally ended his football playing career.

National team

Sağınoğlu played for the first time for the Turkish national teams on October 9, 1965 at a WM1966 - qualifier against the Czechoslovak national team .

In 1965 he took part in the ECO-Cup with Turkey and finished second. This cup was won two years later.

He made his last international match on April 24, 1968 during a preparatory game against the Polish national team . He played a total of 18 times for Turkey.
