Altenburg is the smallest district in terms of population in Felsberg in northern Hesse ( Germany ). The municipal area of the district comprises 7.3819 hectares, on which only about 30 people live. The Schwalm joins the Eder near Altenburg . Neighboring towns are Lohre , Rhünda and Gensungen .

The main attraction of the place is the ruins of the Altenburg, which was probably built in the 11th century, with its slim keep .

history

The first documented mention of the village of Altenburg was in 1467.

In 1939 Altenburg had its highest population, when 82 people lived there.

On December 31, 1971, Altenburg was incorporated into the city of Felsberg as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
