Melgershausen is a district of Felsberg in the north Hessian Schwalm-Eder district .
Geographical location
Melgershausen is located in the extreme west of the Fulda-Werra-Bergland natural area , on the border with the Knüll-Hochland natural area with the Knüllgebirge in the south-southwest . It is located about 5 km (as the crow flies ) east-northeast of the Felsberg core town. The Brückenbach flows through the village, the water of which reaches the Schießbach (or Stelterbach ), which flows westwards towards the Eder , through the Helterbach (also called Helderbach ) flowing north-west ; northeast of the village rises the north-east flowing Freitagsbach , which flows into the Fulda near Lobenhausen . To the north rises the Quillerkopf (approx. 345 m ), to the northeast the Kesselkopf ( Kessel ; 368.1 m ), southwest the Heiligenberg ( 393.3 m ) with the Heiligenburg Castle and northwest the Mönchskopf ( 302.7 m ).
history
The place was first mentioned in the year 1151 as Medelhereshusen , in the property registers of the Hasungen monastery . From the year 1360 the village belongs to the office Felsberg . During the Thirty Years War (1618–1648) the place and church were completely destroyed in 1640. Today's half-timbered church was built between 1727 and 1729 .
On April 1, 1972, the village was assigned to the municipality of Gensungen as part of the regional reform in Hesse . In a further stage of this reform this came with its districts to Felsberg. Melgershausen has been a part of Felsberg since January 1st, 1974.
Sälzer Weg
An old trade route , the Sälzer Weg (salt route), ran through the town. This is the route used to transport the salt extracted from the Werra from Bad Sooden-Allendorf along the high trails via Hessisch Lichtenau , Melsungen , Melgershausen and Gensungen to the Rhine . Today's Brückenbachweg as an extension of the motorway and the Alte Straße past the Charterhouse Eppenberg to Gensungen run along the former Sälze Weg .
traffic
State road 3222 ( Altenbrunslar –Melgershausen– Melsungen ) leads through Melgershausen , from which district road 143 branches off in the village in a south-south-west direction to Heßlar . About 1 km to the west of the location extends in the north-south direction, the Bundesautobahn 7 with the at about 143 K Bundesstrasse 253 lying junction Melsungen .
