Hesserode is one of 16 districts of the city Felsberg in the north Hessian Schwalm-Eder district . The small village has about 110 inhabitants.
Geographical location
The village is situated at 288 meters above sea level about 5 km south of the main town in a valley on a slightly sloping to the northeast plateau to the north of the natural environment Homberger Hochland (natural area no. 356.3) between the forested basalt mounds Harler Mountain (392 m) and its foothills to the west and Rammelskopf (343 m) with its large basalt quarry in the northwest and the Buchholz (348 m) (with the Wickenrod desert) in the southeast. Rainwater and snowmelt water flow from the surrounding slopes into the lowland, which is drained from the approximately 2 km long Frasenbach to the northeast into the Rhünda and thus into the Schwalm .
The former moated castle Hesserode , built around 1300, destroyed in 1636, rebuilt in 1665 and converted into a mansion is located on the southeastern edge of the town .
history
Hesserode was first mentioned in 1123 under the name Hasenroth .
On February 1, 1971, the place was incorporated into the municipality of Gensungen as part of the regional reform in Hesse . This community came to the city of Felsberg on January 1, 1974, where Hesserode was incorporated as a district.
