The Rhünda , also called Rhündabach , is a 12.9 km long, orographically right-hand or eastern tributary of the Schwalm in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse ( Germany ).

The Rhünda rises in the northern foothills of the Knüllgebirge . Its source is in the village of Dickershausen , a district of Homberg , at 327.5 m above sea level. NN .
Initially, the Rhünda flows north-east to and through Sipperhausen , and then turns from the Stöpplingskopf to the north-north-west. In this direction it flows through, approximately parallel to the bit east extending Bundesautobahn 7 , which in the Ostheimer sink preferred Kleinostheim , to thereafter pass the west Geschellenberg ( 324 m bit) and east past Mosheim to pass.
From Hilgershausen , a little northeast of the brook, the Rhünda turns for a short distance to the west- south- west and from Helmshausen , which lies a little south-west of the brook, finally turns to the north-west.
After passing the Grundmühle and two basalt quarries, the Rhünda reaches the Felsberg district of Rhünda , after which it flows through and under the Bundesstraße 253 immediately before reaching the Main-Weser Railway at about 159 m above sea level. NN to flow into the Schwalm, which in turn flows into the Eder shortly after crossing the railway line .

The tributaries of the Rhünda , whose catchment area is 31.857 km², include downstream with orographic allocation (l = left-hand side, r = right-hand side), water length , mouth with Rhünda creek kilometers and catchment area size :
- Hohlgraben (l; 3.4 km), between Ostheim and Mosheim , km 8.65 (3,955 km²)
- Tiefenbach (l; 3.9 km), between Hilgershausen and Helmshausen , km 5.2 (4.917 km²)
- Frasenbach (l; 2.0 km), near Helmshausen
Skull of Rhünda
In 1956, the skull of Rhünda was found near the mouth of the Rhünda , an ice-age skull of a person from around 12,000 years ago.
Literary mention
The writer Heinrich Ruppel wrote about the Rhündatal:
"The Rhündatal is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom."
