Ferdinand Franz Ludwig Wilhelm du Trossel (born July 13, 1781 in Neuruppin , † February 5, 1867 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Ferdinand Ludwig was the son of the Prussian colonel and commander of Magdeburg Jakob Ludwig du Trossel (1848–1809) and his wife Sophie Albertine, née von Kleist (1758–1843). Her parents were the Geheime Rat Friedrich Conrad von Kleist (1726-1808) and his wife Luise Dorothea Julie, née von Schwerin, a daughter of Lieutenant General Reimar Julius von Schwerin . His mother was the sister of Field Marshal Friedrich von Kleist . His aunt Wilhelmine Sophie Charlotte Luise (1761–1841) was married to Lieutenant General von Brauchitsch .

Military career

After attending school in Neuruppin Trossel became effective on October 1, 1795 as Junker in the Dragoon Regiment "of Ansbach-Bayreuth" the Prussian army and advanced to September 1799 second lieutenant . In 1806 he was promoted to regimental adjutant and took part in the battles near Auerstedt , Nordhausen and Zehdenick as well as the defense of Danzig during the Fourth Coalition War.
