Reimar Julius von Schwerin

Reimar Julius von Schwerin (born January 30, 1695 in Wopersnow ; † September 11, 1754 in Lüben , Silesia) was a royal Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. 2 . He was also a knight of the Order of the Black Eagle and Knight of St. John and governor of Oletzkow , Freienwalde and Neuenhagen , and Drost von Wetter in the county of Mark .

He was the son of the Prussian district administrator Johann Bogislaw von Schwerin (* September 3, 1660 - December 1, 1698) and his wife Elisabeth Dorothea von Borcke (* August 5, 1668 - January 11, 1729) from the Krinicke family. His father was also the heir of Wopersnow, Lieps and Schnellin.

Life

He first went into the Swedish service and rose there up to captain . He fought under King Charles XII. in the Pomeranian campaign of 1715/1716 against the Prussians. In 1717 he went into Prussian service and came to the Dragoon Regiment No. 6 (Wuthenow). On June 18, 1721 he became major and on May 15, 1734 lieutenant colonel . That year he marched with the Prussian troops on the Rhine.

In 1741 he became a colonel and took part in the First Silesian War . In 1743 he was appointed major general . On May 22, 1745 he received the Pour le Mérite from King Friedrich II for his bravery in the battle near Neustadt in Silesia. On June 1, 1745 he was appointed governor of Freienwalde and Neuenhagen. In September 1747 he also received the post of Drosten von Wetter in the county of Mark.

In January 1752 he became chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 2 and shortly afterwards he was promoted to lieutenant general. In October 1752 he was also awarded the Order of the Black Eagle. But he died in 1754.

family

He was married twice. His first wife was Sophie Gertrud Kortzfleisch from Tilsit. His second wife was Charlotte Albertine von Kreytzen (born June 21, 1708, † January 20, 1769). His wife was the daughter of Ernst Albrecht von Creytzen (1656–1710) and Luise Charlotte von Loebell (1668–1747) and sister of Major General Friedrich von Kreytzen .
