Location of Ferdinandsfeld in Bavaria

Ferdinandsfeld is part of the municipality of Schernfeld in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt .

location

The wasteland of Ferdinandsfeld is located west of Rupertsbuch in the Workerszell district on Bundesstraße 13 .

history

The estate was named after Grand Duke Ferdinand III. named by Tuscany , whose regional cultural commission planned the reclamation of the so-called Weißenburger Mähder (1805).

The foundation stone was laid in 1805 and was commissioned by the last Prince-Bishop of Eichstätt, Joseph von Stubenberg . The manor should be the beginning of a completely new settlement, a farmer's colony behind Rupertsbuch . With the secularization, the project was discontinued and the manor is today the last testimony to the former efforts.

The first private owner after secularization was the Eichstätter court architect Jordan Mauerer, who was replaced by three other private individuals. In 1852 the farm came into possession of Franz Xaver Neumeyer from Schönau. The Neumeyer family is the owner of the estate to this day.

In 1964 a hotel and restaurant was set up in the manor.

A district of Workerszell until the municipal reform , the place was incorporated into Schernfeld on May 1, 1978.

In 2006, a leisure camp was opened on the now closed area, which, in addition to a mini golf course and a beer garden, also offers the opportunity to stay overnight (tent site, log cabin).

In 2015, the couple Dieter and Ernestine Schaller also opened a restaurant in the fully restored farm.
