Filip Apelstav (born September 19, 1971 in Gothenburg ) is a former Swedish football player . The defender made his career in Sweden, Norway and China.

Career

Apelstav comes from the youth of the Gothenburg club Västra Frölunda IF , where he moved up to the competition team in the late 1980s. After relegation to the second division in 1989, he played with the team for promotion to the Allsvenskan , at the same time he played his way into the Swedish U-20 national team . In 1991 he returned with the club in the first division, in which he acted as a regular player. With the selection team he took part in the Junior World Cup in Portugal in 1991 , but played only one game and was eliminated with the team in the preliminary round. It was more successful for him in the U-21 team , with whom he played alongside Jonny Rödlund , Niclas Alexandersson , Niklas Gudmundsson and Håkan Mild at the U-21 European Championship in 1992 after a 2-0 defeat in the first leg despite a 1: 0 return success through a goal by Pascal Simpson against Italy became vice European champion and qualified for the 1992 Olympic Games . Under the selection coach Nils Andersson , however, he was second choice in this tournament, until he was eliminated in the quarter-finals, he had only played one game in the group stage again.

With his club Västra Frölunda IF Apelstav fought regularly against relegation. In 1994 he had to compete with the team in the relegation , against Umeå FC , however, a 2-0 first leg success was enough to keep the league, as they separated 0-0 draw on foreign place. At the end of the 1995 season he rose with the club from bottom of the table, then he moved to IFK Norrköping . After three seasons, which ended in the middle of the table, he went abroad to Norway.

At Kongsvinger IL Apelstav came irregularly to the train, at the end of the 1999 season the club was relegated from the Tippeligaen . He then tried his hand at the second division clubs Pudong 8848 and Zhejiang Greentown in China , before returning to Norway in the summer of 2001. After a half series at Sogndal Fotball , he moved again to IFK Norrköping. With the club he rose at the end of the 2002 season in the Superettan , where he ran up two seasons. He then ended his career at IK Sleipner .
