The Davis Cup Final 2014 (Switzerland: the Davis Cup Final ) was the 103rd final of the national tennis teams for men and was played between France and Switzerland . Switzerland won the game 3-1 and thus achieved their first Davis Cup victory. The game was played from November 21 to 23, 2014 at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Villeneuve-d'Ascq .
It was the first time that the two teams faced each other in a final. France had won the Davis Cup nine times before ( 1927 , 1928 , 1929 , 1930 , 1931 , 1932 , 1991 , 1996 , 2001 ) and Switzerland never. In total, the two teams faced each other twelve times, of which Switzerland won two games, 3-2 in 1992 and 3-2 in 2003 . The last meeting was in 2004 in Prilly , France won 3-2. In this game Roger Federer won his two singles, the other players of the Swiss team at that time are no longer active. This year's captain Arnaud Clément played for the French .
With 27,448 visitors, a new record number of spectators was achieved in tennis on November 23rd.
