Profile in the BoxRec database |
Fyodor Alexandrowitsch Tschudinow ( Russian Фёдор Александрович Чудинов ; born September 15, 1987 in Bratsk , Soviet Union ) is a Russian boxer and former WBA world champion in super middleweight .
His older brother Dimitri is also a professional boxer and former interim world champion of the WBA in the middleweight division.
Amateur career
Chudinov started boxing at the age of 12 . Under the direction of Alexei Galejew , an experienced boxing coach, he completed over 170 amateur fights . At the age of 19 he won the bronze medal at the Russian Championships and the gold medal at the World Championships (U-19) in 2008 .
Professional career
On July 10, 2009, Chudinov made his professional debut against Shawn Kirk at the Reno Events Center , Nevada . At first he was inactive and boxed only once in 2010 and not at all in 2011. In 2014 he won both the WBC CIS and Slovenian Boxing Bureau (CISBB) and the WBA Fedecaribe and WBA interim titles . Andy Perez, against whom he boxed for the WBA Fedecaribe title, had a record of 19-0-0 and Ben McCulloch , against whom he boxed for the WBA interim title, had a record of 14-0-0.
Since Tschudinow now held the interim title of the WBA, he was allowed to compete against the regular WBA world champion for the title. This was the German Felix Sturm . The fight took place on May 9, 2015 in the Frankfurt Festhalle and went over the full 12 rounds. One judge had Sturm in front, the other two Chudinov, who thus became a regular WBA world champion in his 13th fight. Four months later he completed his first voluntary title defense against the Briton Frank Buglioni and beat him clearly and unanimously on points.
The WBA violated its own regulations on January 5, 2016: The American Andre Ward , who was WBA super-champion in super middleweight, rose to light heavyweight , making this title vacant. Thereupon the WBA named Tschudinow, since he was regular world champion, superchampion and upgraded the rematch between Vincent Feigenbutz and the Italian Giovanni de Carolis to the regular world championship fight . On February 20, 2016, Tschudinow lost the rematch against Felix Sturm for the world title on points. In May 2017 he also lost to George Groves by technical knockout in the sixth round.
