As the French overseas department , the official flag of Guadeloupe is the flag of France .

In addition to its status as an overseas department, Guadeloupe is also a French region , whose regional council would have the right to adopt its own flag, but has not yet made use of it.

The logo of the Guadeloupe region shows a stylized sun and a bird on a green-blue square on a white field. Below are the words REGION GUADELOUPE , which are underlined in yellow.

Unofficial flags

Often the coats of arms of Guadeloupe and the local municipality of Pointe-à-Pitre (red) are indicated in the form of heraldic banners as flags of Guadeloupe, which differ only in color. The coat of arms of Guadeloupe is black, while that of Pointe-à-Pitre has a red field. The flags seem to be used only for advertising purposes.

Various independence movements use their own flags as symbols of Guadeloupe. During the design of the Front de Libération Nationale de la Guadeloupe (FLNG) and the Groupement des Organizations Nationalistes Guadeloupéennes (GONG) of the flag of Cuba resembles that are at the flag Union Populaire pour la Libération de la Guadeloupe (UPLG) similarities to the Flag of Suriname not to misunderstand.
