Florian Opahle

Florian Opahle (* 1983 in Rosenheim ) is a German guitarist, producer and composer. He was a guitarist in the context of solo projects by the band leader of Jethro Tull , Ian Anderson announced. From 2004 he sometimes played with Jethro Tull. In 2012 longtime Tull guitarist Martin Barre officially left the band; Since then, Opahle has only played electric guitar at the side of Anderson, both in the studio and on tours, who declared in 2014 that he no longer wanted to use the band name Jethro Tull.

Life

Opahle grew up in Rosenheim. He began to learn classical guitar at the age of five and was later trained on the electric guitar. In 2001 and 2002 he attended master classes with Masayuki Kato , and in 2002 he passed his Abitur. In 2003 he started working with Ian Anderson. He has performed in Europe, North and South America and Asia and played with musicians such as Al di Meola , Greg Lake and Leslie Mandoki . He accompanied the singer Masha on her tour of Germany. From 2007 to 2008 he studied music arrangement and composition at the German Pop Academy .

Instead of longtime Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre, Opahle took part in several tours with Anderson, including projects in which pieces by Jethro Tull were played with orchestral accompaniment. With Anderson and other musicians he recorded the albums Thick as a Brick 2 (2012) and Homo Erraticus (2014). Opahle is also active as a studio musician and producer, among others for Alexandra Stan . At times he devotes himself to flamenco music.
