Glenn Cornick
Glenn Douglas Barnard Cornick (born April 23, 1947 in Barrow-in-Furness , Cumbria , † August 28, 2014 in Hilo , Hawaii ) was a British rock musician . He was the first bass player in the rock band Jethro Tull .
biography
Cornick played in a number of bands before joining Jethro Tull, most recently with John Evan in his "John Evan Band", which also appeared as "The John Even Smash". When this group broke up in 1967, some remaining band members, including Glenn Cornick and Ian Anderson , formed a new group with other musicians, which - after several name changes - finally called itself "Jethro Tull". Cornick co-wrote Jethro Tull's first single, Airplane, which was released under the band name Jethro Toe . He was kicked out of the band by Anderson in 1970 because Anderson did not agree with Cornick's way of life at the time as a "party animal".
In 1971 Cornick founded the band "Wild Turkey", which existed until 1974 and released two albums. In 1974 they put three more tracks on a sampler, Don't Dare to Forget .
1974–1975 Cornick played with the German band Karthago , on whose album Rock'N'Roll Testament he can be heard. In 1975 he founded the band Paris with Bob Welch (ex- Fleetwood Mac ) , which released two albums in 1976 before they broke up.
In 1977 Cornick moved to the United States . In the mid-1990s there was a new edition of "Wild Turkey". A new album was released in 1996, Stealer of Years , which was followed by more in the new millennium.
Cornick died of acute heart failure at his home in Hawaii at the age of 67 . According to his son Drew, he had been under medical treatment.
