Dee Palmer

Dee Palmer (born David Palmer on July 2, 1937 in London ) is a British musician and former keyboardist from Jethro Tull .

Life

Dee Palmer entered the British Army after school and did military service with the Royal Horse Guards . During this time she studied at the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall. She later graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a degree in composition .

After working as arranger for the string and orchestral arrangements of Jethro Tull in 1968 , she also became a keyboard player in the progressive rock band in 1976 and was a member of this until 1979. During this time, the studio albums Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die! (1976), Songs from the Wood (1977), Heavy Horses (1978) and Stormwatch (1979) and the live album Bursting Out (1978).

After leaving Jethro Tull in 1980, she began arranging orchestral tributes for bands such as The Beatles , Yes , Genesis and Pink Floyd . In 1994 she became a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music.

In 2003, Palmer underwent gender reassignment surgery and changed her name to Dee Palmer.
