John Evan (1973)

John Evan , actually John Spencer Evans , (born March 28, 1948 in Blackpool , England ) is a British musician. From 1970 to 1980 he was the keyboardist for Jethro Tull .

Life

He formed his first band The Blades in 1963 with Ian Anderson . The band was called the John Evans Band from 1965 to 1966 . Other members were Jeffrey Hammond and Barriemore Barlow . A year later they became John Evans Smash , with Jeffrey Hammond being replaced by Glenn Cornick . During this time Evans shortened his name to Evan . In 1968 Jethro Tull was founded without John Evan. He only became a member of the band in 1970 when the third Jethro Tull album Benefit was being recorded. On the cover, however, Evan is not shown as a group member. Nevertheless, he can be heard on some tracks ( Alive and Well an Living in , Son , Play in Time , Sossity; You're a Woman and Teacher ) on the piano and the organ.

Overall, John Evan worked on twelve Jethro Tull albums with. After the album Stormwatch was released in 1980 , Evan and David Palmer separated from Jethro Tull. They founded the band Tallis , which was commercially unsuccessful. Later on, John Evan became a fairly successful building contractor. Today he lives in Australia.
