The international airport Holguín ( Aeropuerto Internacional "Frank País" ) is a commercial airport about 10 km south of the city of Holguín in Cuba . It serves the international scheduled and charter air traffic for the eastern provinces of Holguín , Santiago de Cuba , Guantánamo , Las Tunas and Granma . The smaller airports in these provinces often only have connections to Havana .
The namesake Frank País was a hero of the Cuban Revolution who was murdered by the Batista regime in 1957 .
