Flydubai ( Arabic فلاي دبي, Spelled flydubai ) is the state low-cost airline of the Emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates , based in Dubai and based at Dubai Airport .

history

Flydubai was founded in 2008 and supported during the development phase by the also state-owned Emirates , but operates independently and does not belong to the Emirates Group. Flydubai's competitors are Air Arabia and Jazeera Airways , the latter also operating from Dubai.

Flydubai has a see-through pricing that should allow easy travel. In addition to the flight, the flight price in economy class also includes taxes, fees and 7 kg of hand luggage; in business class, 15 kg of hand luggage is included. However, additional luggage must be paid for separately. Other services such as catering on board are also chargeable.

Destinations

Flydubai operates flights from Dubai to Central and South Asia , Europe and North Africa as well as the Near and Middle East .

At the Dubai Air Show 2017 flydubai announced that it had ordered another 225 Boeing 737 MAX.

Incidents

On March 19, 2016, on Flydubai flight 981, a Boeing 737-800 with the aircraft registration number A6-FDN coming from Dubai crashed while taking off at Rostov-on-Don Airport . All 62 inmates, 55 passengers and seven crew members were killed.
