RAK Airways ( Arabic طيران رأس الخيمة Tayarān Raʾs al-Khaima , DMG Ṭayarān Raʾs al-Ḫayma ) was the airline of the Emirate of Ra's al-Khaimah of the United Arab Emirates , based at Ra's al-Khaima Airport .

history

RAK Airways was founded in February 2006 and initially flew to Beirut , Colombo , Sofia , Dhaka , Kozhikode and Chittagong . At the end of 2008, scheduled flight operations were stopped and afterwards only chartered flights . In 2010 there was a change of management, since then the company has offered scheduled flights again.

On December 31, 2013, RAK Airways announced its immediate temporary cessation of operations for economic reasons.

Destinations

From its home base, Ra's al-Khaimah Airport, RAK Airways mainly served scheduled flights to destinations in the Middle East and Asia. These were Cairo , Chittagong , Dhaka , Kozhikode , Doha , Lahore , Peshawar , Jeddah and Bangkok . Nearby destinations such as neighboring Dubai were also served by coaches. In addition, destinations in Germany, including Hamburg , were also served in charter traffic .
