development
Immigrants from various European countries came to the Fontibón area in the middle of the 20th century and stayed. Today Fontibón with its industrial area is of particular importance for the metropolitan region of Bogotá in the further economic development of a regional free trade zone ( Zona Franca de Bogotá ). Around 223 companies have their headquarters here and employ 21,218 people directly and tie up around 33,000 jobs indirectly. The strategic location is favored by the proximity to the ever-growing freight volume at El Dorado Airport and the connection to nearby communities such as Mosquera , Funza , Madrid and Facatativá .
